3 Businesses Found Omitting Livestock Labeling Information, 4 Failed to Retain Transaction Statements

The investigation found that 3 livestock product retailers had omitted, in whole or in part, mandatory labeling information such as the type of meat, cut name, grade, and slaughterhouse name for the livestock products they sold. Four restaurants violated the obligation to retain livestock product transaction statements, and 2 restaurants failed to label the country of origin of pork, and will face administrative fines.

Under the Act on Labeling and Advertising of Foods, etc. (식품 등의 표시·광고에 관한 법률), failure to label livestock product information can result in a prison term of up to 3 years or a fine of up to 30 million won. The city plans to pursue investigative procedures against the 3 businesses found in violation in accordance with relevant laws, and will notify the respective district offices of the violations so that administrative penalties are imposed as well.

“Ongoing Crackdowns to Ensure Summer Food Safety”
