Waste Collection and Storm Drain Dredging
Focusing on commercial districts and back streets, participants thoroughly collected improperly dumped waste that was harming the city’s appearance and causing foul odors.
In particular, they intensively inspected roadside storm drains, which can cause flooding during sudden downpours, personally removing sediment, fallen leaves, and trash from inside them as part of dredging work to ensure smooth drainage.
“We Will Make This a Summer Free of Flood Worries During the Monsoon Season”
Lee Ok-ja (이옥자), head of the Neighborhood Watch Council, said, “I am grateful to the neighborhood chiefs and council members who made time in their busy schedules to help,” adding, “I hope residents can spend a safe and pleasant summer without worrying about flooding even during heavy monsoon rains.”
Dong chief Baek Mi-song said, “We will continue to work closely with resident-led organizations to thoroughly prepare for summer disasters such as sudden downpours, and do our best to make Guwol 1-dong clean and safe.”
