Posted Article No. 52123

Namdong-gu (남동구; District Chief Lee Byung-rae/이병래) carried out on-site inspections of flood-vulnerable areas and disaster response facilities ahead of the monsoon season. According to the district office, Chief Lee, together with officials from the Safety General Affairs Division (안전총괄과), Water Management Division (치수과), and Road Division (도로과), sequentially inspected Biryudae-ro 762beon-gil (비류대로762번길), Munemi-ro (무네미로) in Mansu 6-dong (만수6동), the automatic blocking facility at Jangsucheon (장수천) stream, and the entry-blocking facility at Jangsu Underpass (장수지하차도). The inspection was carried out as a preemptive measure to prepare for the summer’s heavy rains.

Checking Operation of Underpass and River Automatic Blocking Facilities

During the inspection, Chief Lee personally confirmed whether each facility was operating properly and how the on-site response system was functioning.

In particular, he emphasized that entry-blocking facilities at underpasses and automatic blocking facilities on rivers are core disaster response systems that protect residents’ lives and property during heavy rainfall, calling for thorough inspection and a system capable of rapid activation.

Deputy Chief Kim Chung-jin Inspects Seunggicheon Area

Deputy Chief Kim Chung-jin (김충진) also visited the Seunggicheon (승기천) stream area that same afternoon with relevant department officials, inspecting flood-vulnerable sections along the riverbank and the installation and operational status of automatic blocking facilities.

Deputy Chief Kim closely examined on-site management conditions to ensure immediate control and response would be possible in the event of rainfall.

Strengthening Preemptive Measures, Including Operation of Stormwater Storage Facility

Namdong-gu (남동구) has thoroughly prepared for disaster prevention ahead of the monsoon season, including activating the stormwater storage facility in Ganseok-dong (간석동) and completing erosion-control projects to prevent landslides.

District Chief Lee Byung-rae (이병래) said, “We will continue on-site inspections and preemptive response measures to minimize resident inconvenience and damage caused by heavy rainfall, preparing for summer flood and storm disasters.” He added, “During the monsoon season, heavy rain can fall in a short period of time, so we ask residents to refrain as much as possible from using riverside walking paths, underpasses, and areas prone to repeated flooding.”
