Nonhyeon 1-dong Samgyetang Sharing Event Made Possible by Sorae Credit Union and Inju Saemaul Geumgo
The event was organized ahead of the peak summer heat season to help elderly and vulnerable residents stay healthy through the summer months. It was made possible through sponsorship from Sorae Credit Union (소래신협), Inju Saemaul Geumgo (인주새마을금고), and Saengsaengchan Co. (㈜생생찬).
Members of the Nonhyeon 1-dong Saemaul Women’s Association spent several days before the event hand-preparing side dishes, including jjanji (짠지) and oiji (오이지). The homemade accompaniments served alongside the samgyetang were widely praised for adding deeper meaning to the spirit of sharing.

Separately from the on-site event, packaged samgyetang was delivered to 230 vulnerable households — including elderly individuals living alone who have difficulty getting around and those facing economic hardship — with staff also checking in on their well-being during each visit.
Saemaul Women’s Association President Choi Young-ae said, ‘As the hot summer approaches, we poured our hearts into preparing this with our members, hoping it would offer even a small measure of strength to our elderly neighbors and those in need.’ She added, ‘We will continue to carry out sharing activities alongside our community going forward.’
