The Incheon Jung-gu Facilities Management Corporation (Chairman Son Young-sik) will operate the Haeyang Plaza children’s water play facility from July 1 to Aug. 31. July 1 is also the day the corporation’s name changes to the Incheon Jemulpo-gu Facilities Management Corporation under an administrative system reorganization, adding significance as the first summer operation under the new name.

The children’s water play facility is a space created so that children and families can enjoy water play coolly and safely in the heart of the city during the hot summer. Operating hours run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the facility running for 50 minutes from the top of each hour and then pausing for a 10-minute break. However, it will be closed every Monday and on days when a weather advisory is issued, for the safety of visitors. In effect, even the operating method has been carefully arranged so that visitors can come with peace of mind.

The facility is equipped with one water play structure and six rocking play structures. The corporation has placed weight on safety management, given that the facility is used mainly by children. It plans to prevent accidents in advance by deploying two safety personnel on site and conducting safety education for visitors beforehand. Water hygiene has not been overlooked either. Starting from the date operations begin, the corporation will conduct water quality testing at least once every 15 days to maintain an environment in which children can enjoy water play with peace of mind.

Ahead of the opening, work to improve the facility’s environment has also been completed. The corporation replaced worn-out signboards with new ones, repaired the poles of the shade canopies, and finished repainting the facilities. It plans to continue facility inspections and safety management during the operating period to raise visitor satisfaction.

During summers when heat waves drag on, public facilities where people can enjoy water play for free in the city center serve as an affordable place to escape the heat for residents. In particular, for families with children, they offer an alternative for safely cooling off from the heat nearby, and are expected to help local residents get through the summer.

A corporation official said, “We will do our best in safety management and water quality management so that the Haeyang Plaza children’s water play facility can become a representative summer resting place that children and families can use with peace of mind,” adding, “We will continue to work to operate pleasant and safe public facilities to enhance residents’ leisure and improve their welfare.”
