Yeongjong-gu District (Mayor Son Hwa-jeong) in Incheon will hold its first job fair since the district was launched. Twenty local companies that are hiring will take part in the “2026 Yeongjong-gu Job Fair,” to be held on the 29th at the plaza outside Exit 1 of Unseo Station on the Airport Railroad (AREX). They will interview job seekers on site and hire on the spot. Yeongjong-gu District announced the plan on the 15th.

The fair is designed to bring together, in one place, residents looking for work and companies struggling to find workers. It aims to widen job opportunities for job seekers and to give companies with staffing difficulties a channel for recruitment. Because it is the first large-scale employment support event held by Yeongjong-gu, which was newly created through an administrative restructuring, the fair also offers a glimpse of the new district’s direction on jobs policy.
Interviews will run for two hours, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the day of the event. Recruiters from the 20 participating companies will meet job seekers in person, and interviews may lead to hiring. Unlike regular recruitment, which requires several steps from submitting documents to interviews, the fair lets job seekers meet several companies face to face in a single day.
The fair also offers a practical benefit to job seekers receiving unemployment benefits. Recipients who take part in on-site interviews will be issued a “certificate of job-search activity.” Since recipients must prove a required level of job-search activity to keep receiving unemployment benefits, attending the fair counts toward that requirement. Information on and promotion of the National Employment Support Program will also be provided on site, so residents unfamiliar with employment support programs can learn about them.
Side events have also been arranged to help with job preparation. Visitors can have “resume photos” taken on site for use in job applications, and a “personal color analysis” will help them find colors that suit them so they can make a good impression at interviews and elsewhere. The Yeongjong-gu Volunteer Center will run a “tricolor doorbell making” booth for visitors to enjoy.
No advance registration is required. Residents who wish to take part can bring their resumes and come directly to the venue on the 29th. A list of participating companies can be checked in advance in the job listings on the Work24 website (www.work24.go.kr). Further details on the fair are posted in the notices section of the Yeongjong-gu website (www.yeongjong.go.kr), and information is also available from the Yeongjong-gu Job Center (☎032-746-6920~1).
“Through this job fair, I hope hiring companies will recruit excellent talent and job seekers will reach their employment goals conveniently and quickly through on-site interviews,” Mayor Son said. “We will continue to respond actively and with improved approaches to the difficult hiring market, and do our best to realize a Yeongjong-gu that connects the sky, opens the future and embraces people.”
The Unseo Station plaza sees heavy foot traffic from residents using the Airport Railroad, and the venue was chosen as a spot easily reached by public transportation. With the hiring market in a slump, attention is on whether the fair, which directly connects employers and job seekers within the district, will lead to actual hires and whether it will become a regular employment support program for Yeongjong-gu.
