Posted Article No. 51127

The Guwol 4-dong Veterans Association (구월4동 재향군인회) in Namdong-gu (남동구), Incheon — led by President Jo Hak-hyeon (조학현) — announced on the 29th that it had donated 35 boxes of cup noodles to the Guwol 4-dong Community Service Center (행정복지센터). The donated goods are slated for delivery to 35 vulnerable households that fall outside the standard welfare safety net, with the aim of helping neighbors who struggle to afford regular meals amid the sweltering midsummer heat.

Turning Patriotic Spirit into Giving — The Significance of the Veterans Association’s Donation

Association President Jo Hak-hyeon said, ‘We decided to donate cup noodles so that neighbors who have difficulty getting around or are struggling financially can easily fix themselves a meal during the brutal midsummer heat.’

He added, ‘It is the Veterans Association’s mission, during Patriots and Veterans Month, to honor the sacrifices made for our country and to carry that sense of gratitude forward through acts of sharing with our neighbors.’

Distribution Plan to Reach Welfare Blind Spots and Isolated Young Adults Alike

Guwol 4-dong Community Director Lee Yun-jeong explained, ‘Recently, it is not just elderly residents living alone who are in need — a significant number of young and middle-aged adults are also living in isolation or struggling to put food on the table.’

She said, ‘We will make sure the Veterans Association’s warm generosity reaches those who need it most, so it can serve as a small source of strength for people enduring difficult times.’

A Legacy of Community Service: The Veterans Association’s Year-Round Volunteer Work

The Guwol 4-dong Veterans Association has consistently carried out a wide range of charitable and volunteer activities each year, including donating goods to vulnerable households, organizing neighborhood cleanup drives, and supporting Vietnam War veterans.

Through these efforts, the association has earned recognition as a driving force in spreading the values of patriotism and community giving throughout the local area.
