World Top-100 Photographer Choi Byeong-gwan Donates 21 of His Late Mother’s Daily-Life Artifacts to Sorae History Museum
Choi Byeong-gwan (최병관) is a nationally and internationally acclaimed photographic artist who earned a place among the world’s top 100 photographers for his documentary work recording the DMZ and the 155-mile ceasefire line. A native of Sorae (소래), Choi came forward voluntarily to donate after learning of the Namdong Culture Foundation’s artifact donation publicity campaign.
In April and May, across two separate visits, Choi delivered a total of 21 items of daily-life materials that his late mother had used during her lifetime to the Sorae History Museum. The donation has drawn attention as a notable example of an artist raised in the region returning locally significant materials to the community.
