KRW 49.7 Billion for Buildings, KRW 41.8 Billion for Housing

Property tax is levied each year on whoever owns the property as of the assessment date of June 1, regardless of how long they have held it. In July, tax is levied on housing (half the annual amount), buildings, ships, and aircraft, while in September tax is levied on housing (the remaining half) and land.

This year’s July regular property tax consists of roughly KRW 49.7 billion for buildings and roughly KRW 41.8 billion for housing (half of the annual amount), among other items.

Convenient Payment via Internet Giro, Wetax, and More

Taxpayers do not need to visit a financial institution in person — they can pay their property tax by account transfer or credit card through Internet Giro (giro.or.kr), Wetax (wetax.go.kr), ARS (142-211), or CD/ATMs at banks nationwide.

However, ARS lines may become congested near the deadline due to high call volume, so it is advisable to pay early or use alternative methods such as Wetax, CD/ATMs, or credit card.

Tax Credits for E-Billing and Automatic Payment Sign-Ups

Taxpayers who sign up for e-billing and automatic payment can each receive a tax credit of KRW 800. For inquiries, contact Yeonsu-gu’s Tax Division (☎032-749-7483).

For other property tax inquiries, residents in the old downtown area can contact Yeonsu-gu’s Tax Division Property Tax Team (☎032-749-7489), while residents of Songdo-dong (송도동) can contact the Songdo Property Tax Team at Yeonsu-gu’s Second Government Complex, Songdo Tax Division (☎032-749-7470).

A Yeonsu-gu official said, “Property tax is a valuable source of funding used for the welfare of Yeonsu-gu residents and the development of the district,” adding, “Please make sure to pay within the deadline, as late payment will incur an additional late-payment penalty.”
