On the 14th, amid the continuing heatwave, the Ongnyeon 1-dong (옥련1동) Community Social Security Council (지역사회보장협의체) in Yeonsu-gu (연수구), chaired by Baek Yeong-sil (백영실), delivered 10 sacks of corn to help local vulnerable residents struggling with health management get through the summer in good health. Committee members visited each household to hand over the corn and explain “heatwave response guidelines,” while also checking on residents’ living conditions and health status.

Seasonal Produce Funded by Committee Members’ Dues
The donation was funded through membership dues paid by committee members, aimed at providing nutrient-rich seasonal produce to help address the nutritional imbalance faced by neighbors worn down by the intense heat.
Recipients included basic livelihood recipients, near-poverty households, and elderly people living alone — vulnerable residents in need of healthy food.

Home Visits Also Provided Heatwave Safety Guidance
Committee Chairperson Baek Yeong-sil (백영실) said, “This donation was organized to share both seasonal food and warmth with our neighbors,” adding, “I hope this support not only helps with nutrition but also serves as an opportunity to build a tighter welfare safety net.”
She continued, “We will keep developing tailored, season-specific welfare services so that no one in Ongnyeon 1-dong (옥련1동) is left behind.”
