Guwol 1-dong (구월1동) Promotes Water Safety Ahead of Summer Vacation Season

Essential Safety Rules Training for Neighborhood Chiefs' Council (통장자율회)

Posted Article No. 52488

The Guwol 1-dong (구월1동) Community Service Center (행정복지센터) in Namdong-gu (남동구), Incheon (인천) — headed by Chief Baek Mi-song (백미송) — announced on the 15th that it recently conducted promotional activities and training on ‘preventing summer water safety accidents’ for members of its Neighborhood Chiefs’ Council (통장자율회), as the summer vacation season gets into full swing. The training was organized to proactively prevent accidents amid a sharp rise in the number of people visiting water areas, and to spread proper safety rules throughout the neighborhood via the chiefs.

From Warming Up Before Entering the Water to Calling 119 in Case of Accidents

The session focused on essential safety rules that must be observed while swimming, including doing sufficient warm-up exercises before entering the water, actively following the guidance of safety personnel, ensuring children are always accompanied by a guardian, never swimming after drinking alcohol, and, in the event of an accident, immediately calling 119 rather than attempting a reckless rescue.

After completing the training, the neighborhood chiefs pledged to actively promote the water safety rules to residents in their respective areas.

Neighborhood Chiefs’ Council (통장자율회): ‘Not a Single Accident’

Lee Ok-ja (이옥자), head of the Neighborhood Chiefs’ Council (통장자율회), said, ‘We will actively spread the safety rules to our neighbors in each district so that not a single water-related accident occurs among our residents.’

Chief Baek Mi-song (백미송) said, ‘I deeply thank the neighborhood chiefs who, despite their busy daily lives, stepped forward as safety advocates to protect the precious lives of our residents.’ She added, ‘We will continue to work together with community organizations to carefully examine various safety hazards that can arise in summer, and focus on making Guwol 1-dong (구월1동) a place where all residents can spend a safe and healthy summer with peace of mind.’
