Youth Committee’s First Participation Achieves Intergenerational Community Self-Governance

The Residents’ Assembly is a public forum where residents directly propose projects needed for their village and decide on priorities. This year’s assembly expanded resident participation by operating a cooperative body with the Tongjang Autonomous Council (통장자율회) to identify agenda items, and agendas were gathered through a variety of methods.

The Youth Committee (청소년분과위원회), launched for the first time this year, took part in preparing for the assembly and running the event, adding meaning to community self-governance built together across generations.

Five Village Projects for 2027 Finalized… Making a Clean Neighborhood Ranks First

The 2027 Community Council projects finalized through the residents’ vote that day were, in order: ▲Making a Clean Ganseok 3-dong (간석3동) Together with Youth, followed by ▲Creating a Jindallae (진달래, azalea) Hillside Garden, ▲The Most Beautiful Photo of My Life, ▲Local and Cultural Exploration Writing Contest, and ▲Our Village Video Contest.

Yang Young-su (양영수), chairperson of the Ganseok 3-dong (간석3동) Community Council, said, ‘Thanks to the residents’ active participation, we were able to successfully wrap up this year’s Residents’ Assembly as well.’ He added, ‘We will continue to do our best to build a more livable Ganseok 3-dong, treating residents’ opinions as our most valuable asset.’

The finalized projects will proceed through the relevant procedures to be carried out as 2027 Community Council projects.
