Selected as Best Practice in Cultural Enjoyment Category Among 7 Fields

Namdong Cultural Foundation (남동문화재단) was selected as a best practice for its ‘Culture and Arts Welfare Project’ in the Cultural Enjoyment (문화향유) category, one of seven fields that also included Cultural Mediation (문화매개), Local Regeneration (지역소생), Cultural Planning (문화기획), Fundraising (재원조성), Cultural Governance (문화협치), and Everyday Culture (생활문화).

Since its establishment in 2023, the foundation has run a range of culture and arts welfare programs — including performances, exhibitions, education, and projects based in old downtown areas — building an integrated culture and arts welfare system that embraces both culturally underserved groups and culturally underserved areas.

The foundation ran customized culture and arts programs for senior citizens, people with disabilities, adolescents, young children, and near-poverty households, while also establishing culture and arts hubs centered on old downtown living areas, contributing to narrowing the regional culture gap and improving access to culture.

A total of 234,426 people took part in the ‘Culture and Arts Welfare Project’ from 2023 to 2025, and in 2026 the foundation is pursuing a ‘Traveling Exhibition Project (찾아가는 전시 프로젝트)’ aimed at culturally underserved groups.

A Namdong Cultural Foundation (남동문화재단) official said, ‘This selection as a best practice is an achievement made together with the local community, related organizations, and local artists,’ adding, ‘We will continue to build a sustainable culture and arts welfare model where anyone can enjoy culture and the arts in their daily lives.’
