The Saemaul Women’s Association of Nonhyeon-gojan-dong (논현고잔동), Incheon’s Namdong-gu (남동구), led by chairwoman Jin Myeong-ja (진명자), announced on the 16th that it held a ‘Samgyetang Sharing Event of Love’ for local senior citizens on the 15th to mark Chobok (초복). The event was planned with the sponsorship of Sang-Incheon Saemaul Geumgo (상인천새마을금고), led by chairman Im Dong-pyo (임동표), to help vulnerable senior citizens stay healthy through the summer.

Samgyetang Delivered to 250 Seniors at Senior Centers and Rental Apartments
On that day, members of the Saemaul Women’s Association gathered from early morning to carefully prepare the samgyetang and package it individually under hygienic conditions.
The prepared samgyetang was thoughtfully delivered to a total of 250 senior citizens, including 110 elderly residents at local senior centers and 140 elderly households living in rental apartments.
Association Chairwoman, District Chief: ‘We Will Carefully Look After Seniors’ Health’
Jin Myeong-ja (진명자), chairwoman of the Saemaul Women’s Association, said, ‘Despite the scorching heat wave and monsoon rains, our members prepared this with great care for the senior citizens. We hope they enjoy the nutritious samgyetang, regain their strength, and get through the summer in good health.’
Moon Seon-yeong (문선영), head of Nonhyeon-gojan-dong (논현고잔동), said, ‘I deeply thank the Saemaul Women’s Association for preparing the samgyetang and volunteering their service, as well as Sang-Incheon Saemaul Geumgo (상인천새마을금고) for its sponsorship. We will pay even closer attention to the health and well-being of our senior citizens this summer.’
The Nonhyeon-gojan-dong Saemaul Women’s Association delivers homemade side dishes to 50 households of seniors living alone every month, and is at the forefront of promoting community welfare through various volunteer activities, including maintaining senior centers and organizing charity bazaars to help neighbors in need.
