The Incheon Metropolitan Government (Mayor Park Chan-dae) announced that it held the 2026 2nd Incheon Metropolitan Youth Counselors Convention on the 16th at the Ganghwa-gun Youth Culture House and Hwagae Garden, with some 100 workers from the region’s district and county youth counseling and welfare centers and out-of-school youth support centers in attendance. The event was organized by the Council of Incheon Metropolitan Youth Counseling and Welfare Centers.

Held under the slogan ‘Here and Now, Together with Our Youth,’ the convention was arranged to bolster the pride of counselors who guard the field with a sense of mission amid ever-growing demand for youth support, and to strengthen the framework of cooperation among centers. The significance of the convention is considerable, given that the scope of youth counseling continues to widen — including identifying at-risk students and supporting out-of-school youth — even as frontline workers rarely find opportunities to share their experiences with one another and recover from burnout.

On the day, commendations were presented to outstanding institutions and exemplary counselors who have contributed to the healthy development of young people and the prevention of crises. This was followed by programs woven into nature, such as a healing lunch and a stroll through Hwagae Garden, allowing participants to set aside the burdens of their daily work for a while, share their experiences and hardships, and enjoy a time of recharging.

Ju So-jeong, head of the city’s Youth Policy Division, said, ‘This became a precious occasion to raise the morale of counselors who toil in the field for the healthy growth and crisis prevention of our youth, and to strengthen solidarity and exchange among workers.’ She added, ‘Going forward, Incheon will continue to raise the standard of youth welfare to a new level, while making ongoing efforts to bring about effective improvements in treatment and enhanced rights that frontline counselors can genuinely feel.’
