The 197th Regular Concert of the Incheon City Chorale (Artistic Director Yoon Eui-jung), 《2026 Musical & Cinema Adventure》, closed to a sold-out house on August 12 in the Grand Performance Hall of the Incheon Culture and Arts Center. Having sold out for two consecutive years, the ensemble recorded a third straight sellout this year, reaffirming the concert’s standing as its signature brand production.

This year’s concert sold out the moment tickets went on sale, drawing keen attention even before it began. The fierce rush for reservations once again revealed the anticipation audiences have long brought to this stage.
《Musical & Cinema Adventure》 is a program that reinterprets beloved masterpieces from films and musicals around the world through the sound of choir and orchestra. Bringing together a colorful array of works that move freely between screen and stage, it is designed to deliver the joy of an all-in-one gift set to its audience.
The first half opened under the baton of Artistic Director Yoon Eui-jung. A genre-spanning lineup followed — ‘The Raiders March’ from the film 《Indiana Jones》, ‘Someone in the Crowd’ from 《La La Land》, and ‘Seasons of Love’ from the musical 《Rent》, followed by ‘The Land of Lola’ from 《Kinky Boots》, the title song from 《Rebecca》, and ‘Sanctuary’ from the animated film 《The Hunchback of Notre Dame》 — heightening the audience’s immersion from the very start.
In the second half, assistant conductor Jang Min-hye took up the baton, weaving the narratives of films and musicals into choral melodies. A suite from the 《Gladiator》 OST, along with signature numbers from 《Frankenstein》 and 《Chicago》, took the stage. Then, under Artistic Director Yoon Eui-jung’s direction, ‘Burn Me’ from the musical 《Yi Sun-sin》, ‘The Great History of Creating Life Begins’ from 《Frankenstein》, and a celebrated piece from the animation 《Attack on Titan》 were performed, driving the concert to its peak with powerful harmonies.
Artistic Director Yoon Eui-jung shared his reflections: ‘To live up to the high standards and expectations of audiences who respond so warmly every year, the process of devising new repertoire and new stages is never an easy one,’ he said, adding, ‘Even so, breathing together with our audience and repaying them with music of the highest quality is our one and only mission.’
By rendering film and musical music familiar to the public in the form of orthodox choral performance, this concert holds significance in broadening the point of contact through which choral art can reach citizens unaccustomed to classical performance. The third consecutive sellout demonstrates that a regional municipal arts company’s concert has secured a stable audience base.
Meanwhile, the Incheon City Chorale will hold its 《2027 ACDA National Conference Invitation Commemorative Concert》 at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, at the Lotte Concert Hall. Selected as an ‘Invited Choir’ — one of only three teams chosen from around the world — at the convention of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), the world’s largest choral festival, the Incheon City Chorale now stands shoulder to shoulder with the world’s top ensembles, including the Grammy-winning ‘Conspirare’ and Britain’s renowned ‘Tenebrae.’ This commemorative concert is being arranged as an occasion to give domestic audiences a preview ahead of the ensemble’s advance onto the world stage.
