The Incheon Metropolitan Government (Mayor Park Chan-dae) is holding the 2026 24th Next-Generation Global Startup and Trade School Homeland Visit Program from August 3 to 8, a six-day, five-night session, at the Songdo campus of Incheon National University. A total of 94 next-generation businesspeople from home and abroad are taking part, including 73 young overseas Koreans from 24 countries and 21 domestic university and graduate students.

The program invites next-generation overseas Koreans (the 1.5th to 4th generations) from around the world to Korea to nurture them as global economic leaders and to strengthen their sense of Korean identity. It has been organized annually by the World Federation of Overseas Korean Traders Associations (World-OKTA) since 2003, and this year the City of Incheon prepared the program in cooperation with World-OKTA and Incheon National University.
The most notable feature of this year’s program is that 21 domestic university and graduate students are taking part for the first time. Moving beyond its previous focus on young overseas Koreans, the program has expanded into a venue where domestic youth can interact directly with next-generation overseas Korean businesspeople active abroad, build global networks, and lay a foundation for mutual cooperation. As young people connect human assets across borders, the event is expected to serve as an opportunity to raise Incheon’s standing as a global city.
Participants will take part in a range of programs, including lectures by distinguished speakers, team discussions and presentations, industrial tours, lectures on exemplary startup cases by Incheon entrepreneurs, and hands-on experiences of Incheon’s history and culture.
On the third day, participants will visit the DHL Incheon Airport Gateway at the Incheon International Airport cargo terminal and the Incheon Robot Tower in Cheongna International City. They will tour a global logistics system and the front lines of the advanced robotics industry, experiencing firsthand Incheon’s competitiveness in future industries.
On August 7, the fifth day, participants will visit the Michuhol Traditional Food Culture Research Institute and the Korean Emigration History Museum inside the Wolmi Culture Center. They will make traditional rice cakes and learn about the Republic of Korea’s first official emigration, gaining a deeper understanding of Incheon’s culture and history. They will then board the Wolmi Sea Train to take in Incheon’s development.
In a video welcoming address at the opening ceremony on the first day, Mayor Park Chan-dae expressed his anticipation, saying, ‘I am delighted to continue this bond for the third time here in the international city of Incheon,’ and adding, ‘Especially this year, with domestic university students joining as well, the opportunities for cooperation toward the world will become even richer.’ He went on to stress, ‘I hope the ties formed through this program will bear fruit as a global economic network linking the Republic of Korea and the world, and through the successful hosting of the World Korean Business Convention to be held in Songdo this coming September, we will further solidify our system of economic cooperation with overseas Koreans.’
