Incheon’s Yeongjong District (District Mayor Son Hwa-jeong) announced that it held the “Unseo 2-dong Community Service Center Construction Design Service Kickoff Briefing” at the district office on the 15th, with District Mayor Son Hwa-jeong, related officials and representatives from the service provider in attendance. The meeting was arranged to discuss the direction of future project implementation following the recent signing of the design service contract.
The new Unseo 2-dong Community Service Center will be built in the area of 3050-4 and 3050-5 Unseo-dong, with one basement level and four stories above ground and a total floor area of about 3,200 square meters. The total project cost is approximately 17.3 billion won. The district is pursuing the project with the goal of opening the center in the first half of 2029.
Unseo 2-dong is a newly established administrative division that was split off from Unseo-dong on January 1 this year in response to growing administrative and welfare demands driven by population congestion and changes in residents’ living areas. It currently operates out of a temporary office at 3050-2 Unseo-dong, where cramped space has caused ongoing inconvenience.
The new office building is intended to resolve the space shortage at the temporary office while also being developed into a complex cultural and welfare space that any resident can freely use. The district previously completed various administrative procedures last year, including establishing an implementation plan, a review of public property, an Incheon Metropolitan City fiscal investment project review, and a Building Committee review, and plans to gather resident opinions through briefing sessions and reflect them in the design going forward.

In addition, the building will be constructed to obtain certifications such as an energy efficiency rating, green building certification and Barrier Free (BF) certification, making it a sustainable public building that is convenient for all residents to use.
District Mayor Son Hwa-jeong said, “We will do our best from the design stage onward to make this not merely the construction of an office building, but an open cultural and welfare complex where any resident can comfortably stay and communicate, and a landmark community service center that represents Yeongjong District.”
As the first major office building construction project undertaken since Yeongjong District’s launch on July 1 this year, the start of this design service is regarded as a project that lays the administrative foundation for the new autonomous district.
