Juan Video Media Center Selected as ‘2026 Dream Art Corps Preliminary Hub Institution’

Secures 15.9 million won in state funds to run 'Dream Studio' combining media and visual arts

Posted Article No. 51640

The Juan Video Media Center (Director Jang Gu-bo), operated by Michuhol-gu District (Mayor Kim Jong-sik) in Incheon, has been selected in the open competition for the ‘2026 Dream Art Corps Preliminary Hub Institution,’ organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Arts and Culture Education Service, securing 15.9 million won in state funding. The selection is seen as laying the groundwork to expand the foundation of arts and culture education for local youth by one step.

The ‘Dream Art Corps’ is a national competitive project that helps young people develop their artistic capabilities through arts and culture education and grow into cultural and artistic talent representing their region. Under its structure, education programs are run through regional hub institutions to provide youth with ongoing opportunities for artistic activity.

Through this selection, the center will operate a ‘Dream Studio’ that combines media and visual arts. To this end, it plans to carry out preparatory work in stages, including developing curricula, running pilot programs and building the educational environment.

The center will use the media education facilities it has built up over the years, along with local cultural resources, to flesh out a youth-tailored media arts education model. Based on this, it plans to take part in the screening for new hub institutions scheduled for this October.

If it is ultimately selected as a new hub institution, the center will receive a total of 400 million won in state funds over five years. As it will thereby establish a sustainable foundation for arts and culture education for local youth on the basis of stable financing, this selection as a preliminary hub institution is regarded as an achievement in passing that first gateway.

A district official said, “This selection in the competition is an achievement that recognizes the media education capabilities of the Juan Video Media Center,” adding, “We will actively support young people so that they can grow into future cultural and artistic talent through creative artistic activities.”
