The Michuhol-gu Lifelong Learning Center will hold a ‘Traditional Knot and Gyubang Craft’ exhibition along with a hands-on craft program for three days from July 8 to 10 at Nanumteo 1 on the first floor of the Lifelong Learning Center (1556-18 Juan-dong). The event is designed so that residents can not only view traditional crafts but also make them with their own hands.

On display will be works selected at the 46th Incheon Crafts Competition, shown alongside pieces made by students of the ‘Traditional Knot and Gyubang Craft’ course. Any resident may browse the exhibition freely, with no separate admission requirement or prior registration.

The hands-on program held alongside the exhibition is ‘gwijumeoni pouch keyring making.’ The program will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. over the three days, accepting 30 people per day on a first-come, first-served basis. Any resident in elementary school or older may take part free of charge, making it easy for families to enjoy as well.

The event is expected to serve as an opportunity to broaden interest in traditional culture within the community by giving residents unfamiliar with traditional crafts a close-up look at the actual works and a chance to experience the making process.

An official from the Lifelong Learning Center said, “We hope this will be an opportunity for residents to appreciate the students’ works and experience traditional crafts firsthand, raising their interest in traditional crafts,” adding, “We will continue to plan beneficial programs that reflect residents’ needs.” For more information on the exhibition and hands-on program, contact the Michuhol-gu Lifelong Learning Center (☎032-728-6545).
