The Incheon Michuhol-gu Juan 6-dong Administrative Welfare Center (Director Kim Seon-suk) announced on July 9 that it has received 15 electric fans and 38 cup-rice products from the Incheon Samsung Daycare Center (Director So Byeong-suk) to help vulnerable residents stay cool and healthy during the summer.

The donated goods were purchased with the entire proceeds of 890,000 won raised from the “Cheerful Flea Market” organized by the children, parents, and staff of the daycare center.
The flea market, planned by Senior Teacher Park Su-jin, was run as an environmental education program where children learned the meaning of resource recycling by sharing and reusing items they no longer use. It also served as a venue to practice neighborly love in connection with the Samsung Welfare Foundation’s “Diversity Respect Program.”
After discussing how to use the proceeds, the children and parents agreed to donate the entire amount to Juan 6-dong to help local residents vulnerable to the heat.
So Byeong-suk, director of the Incheon Samsung Daycare Center, said, “We will continue to practice experience-based sharing education so that children can learn the values of environment and sharing.”
An official from the center said, “The small practice of the children has led to a big sharing in the community. The donated items will be delivered to households vulnerable to the heat, such as elderly people living alone.”
