The Incheon Metropolitan Government (Mayor Park Chan-dae) announced that the 42nd Shinhan Donghae Open will be held over four days, from Thursday, September 10, to Sunday, September 13, at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea in Songdo-dong, Yeonsu-gu.

This year’s event is hosted by Shinhan Financial Group and co-sanctioned by the Korea Professional Golfers’ Association (KPGA) and the Japan Golf Tour Organization (JGTO). A field of 138 top players from home and abroad — including 70 from the KPGA and 60 from the JGTO — will compete for the top spot in Asia. The tournament will be played as a 72-hole stroke play event over four rounds, with the champion claiming the largest share of the 1.5 billion won total purse.

The schedule opens with official practice on the 9th, followed by the first round on the 10th, the second round on the 11th and the third round on the 12th, before concluding with the final round and the awards ceremony on the 13th.

As an Asian major co-sanctioned by the two tours representing Korea and Japan, the event is drawing keen interest from golf fans at home and abroad. With players, galleries and other visitors expected to flock to Incheon during the tournament, the event is anticipated to invigorate the local economy and help enhance the city’s brand through sport.

Admission has been made more accessible for Incheon residents. Those who purchase tickets on-site can enjoy the tournament at a 50 percent discount regardless of payment method, giving local residents an affordable opportunity to watch world-class golf in person.

Kim Young-shin, Director-General of Incheon’s International Cooperation Bureau, said, ‘It is deeply meaningful to once again host in Incheon a prestigious international tournament where the world’s top players and golf fans come together.’ He added, ‘We will continue to actively attract large-scale international events across sports and various other fields to strengthen Incheon’s competitiveness as a city, and we will spare no support so that visitors can experience the many charms of Incheon.’
