The Incheon Metropolitan Government (Mayor Park Chan-dae) has opened a large-scale event unveiling its blueprint for future administrative innovation that fuses artificial intelligence (AI), spatial information and digital twin technology. Incheon is holding the ‘2026 AI × Spatial Information × Digital Twin Incheon Week’ at the central hall of City Hall’s main building for three days, from September 16 to 18.

Held under the theme ‘Spatial Intelligence AI-City Incheon, Raising the Value of the City,’ the event brings together some 500 participants, including officials from central and local governments as well as district and county administrations, along with spatial information professionals. Incheon intends to use the occasion as a springboard to strengthen the public sector’s capacity to apply Spatial AI and to spread data-driven, science-based administration.
At the heart of the event is ‘iMap (imap.incheon.go.kr),’ Incheon’s flagship spatial information platform. The city has substantially upgraded the platform by organically linking ultra-high-resolution 3D spatial data at the 3-centimeter level with administrative information from individual departments, enabling complex urban problems to be analyzed and resolved proactively from a spatial perspective. The upgrade is the fruit of ongoing collaboration with some 20 field departments to build customized thematic maps that can be put to practical use across their work.
At the opening ceremony on the first day, the 16th, Ahn Jong-wook, president of the Korea Spatial Information Society, will deliver the keynote address under the theme ‘From Spatial Information to Spatial Intelligence: Korea’s New Path in the AI Era, Beginning in Incheon.’
The venue features a range of hands-on and promotional exhibits so that visitors can experience the latest spatial intelligence technology firsthand. A total of seven specialized exhibition and experience halls have been set up to showcase real-world applications, including the main Incheon spatial information platform exhibit, an Incheon Treasure Island VR experience zone, a drone aerial-imagery experience zone and a 3D mapping live zone.
Incheon also plans to further strengthen a practice-oriented cooperation network to interlink the leading best practices of individual local governments and to expand and firmly establish the iMap-centered intelligent spatial information platform across all areas of administration. This is expected to lay the groundwork for consolidating urban data once scattered across individual departments onto a single spatial foundation, thereby improving the accuracy of administrative decisions directly tied to residents’ lives, such as those concerning disaster response, safety and urban planning.
Nam Young-hee, Vice Mayor for Balanced Development, said, ‘This Incheon Week will serve as a decisive turning point for public officials to actively adopt and utilize intelligent spatial information platforms, including iMap, in the administrative field.’ She added, ‘We will continue to advance the platform’s functions so as to provide high-quality administrative services that residents can clearly feel in their daily lives.’
