The Ongjin Welfare Foundation (Chairperson Jang Jeong-min) held the “2026 Ongjin-gun County Social Welfare Facility Managers Workshop” over two days, from the 15th to the 16th. The event took place at the Orakai Songdo Park Hotel in Songdo, Incheon. It was funded by the Community Chest of Korea’s Incheon chapter through a designated donation from NH NongHyup Bank’s Incheon Ongjin-gun branch.

The workshop aimed to build the skills of social welfare facility managers and to promote information sharing and cooperation among facilities. A total of 24 managers from 19 social welfare facilities in Ongjin-gun County took part.

Over the two days, participants completed training to strengthen their management skills. They also shared field experience from their facilities and discussed the difficulties and concerns they face in running them. The sessions helped build ties among the facilities and laid the groundwork for ongoing exchange and cooperation.

The workshop reflects Ongjin-gun County’s geography. An Ongjin-gun County official said, “Because of the region’s characteristics, social welfare facilities in Ongjin-gun are spread across many islands, so there have been few opportunities for communication and exchange between them.” The official added, “We hope this workshop was a meaningful occasion that improved managers’ capabilities and expanded the network among facilities, and we expect today’s meeting to lead to continued cooperation in the field.”

The Ongjin Welfare Foundation plans to keep incorporating feedback from the field as it looks for ways to support social welfare facilities, and to carry out a range of projects to advance welfare in the local community. With managers of welfare facilities scattered across the islands now connected through a network, the effort is also expected to help improve the quality of welfare services residents receive.
