Jemulpo-gu District Job Fair for Root Industry Firms Draws Some 500 Job Seekers; 367 Interviewed On-Site

Co-hosted with Incheon Technopark's Root Industry Job Center at Sangsang Platform Wave Hall on the 14th; 45 companies took part, 20 of them holding one-on-one interviews on-site

Some 500 job seekers attended the “2026 Jemulpo-gu Job Fair with Root Industry Companies,” held by Incheon’s Jemulpo-gu District (Mayor Kim Chan-jin) on the 14th at Sangsang Platform Wave Hall. The fair aimed to give local residents looking for work more chances to find jobs and to connect local root industry companies facing labor shortages with workers.

The fair was co-hosted by Jemulpo-gu District and Incheon Technopark’s Root Industry Job Center. It was designed to let job seekers meet multiple companies in one place and to ease labor shortages at root industry companies in Jemulpo-gu and across Incheon. The root industry refers to process technologies such as casting, molding and welding that underpin manufacturing as a whole. Because the sector is directly tied to the competitiveness of local manufacturing, securing workers in this field is seen as a challenge for the regional economy as a whole, not just for individual companies.

A total of 45 companies took part in the event. Of these, 20 companies set up booths at the venue and held one-on-one interviews with job seekers. A total of 367 job seekers sat for on-site interviews, meaning a substantial share of visitors actually sat down with company representatives and entered the hiring process.

The remaining 25 companies that did not attend in person took part indirectly. They posted job openings at the venue and collected resumes so that job seekers could apply to them. The two participation formats were designed so that companies unable to hold on-site interviews would not miss out on recruiting opportunities, while job seekers could consider a wider range of options.

In addition to the interviews, a range of side events was offered to help job seekers build employability skills and prepare for interviews. Participants were drawn to the fact that the fair went beyond simply matching companies with job seekers and provided on-site support for the preparation needed during the job search.

“Many job seekers visited this job fair and showed a high level of interest in employment,” Jemulpo-gu District Mayor Kim Chan-jin said. “We will continue to pursue a variety of job support programs to connect local companies with the talent they need and provide job seekers with practical employment opportunities.”

That some 500 people attended the one-day event and 367 of them went as far as on-site interviews shows that both the demand for jobs within the region and companies’ need for workers are substantial. How many of the connections made at the fair lead to actual hires is expected to serve as a benchmark for gauging the results of the district’s employment policy going forward.
