Incheon’s Namdong District (Namdong-gu, District Mayor Lee Byung-rae) announced on the 29th that it recently held the “2026 Second-Half Child Welfare Teacher Capacity-Building Training and Discussion Meeting” at the Namdong-gu Lifelong Learning Center for child welfare teachers dispatched to local children’s centers within the district. The training was organized to help teachers understand children’s characteristics and learn effective teaching methods suited to them, as the number of children with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and slow learners at local children’s centers has recently been increasing.

At the training, attended by 23 child welfare teachers, lecturer Kim Na-hyeong, author of Literacy Lessons for Slow Learners, Borderline Intelligence, and ADHD, gave a lecture on the theme of “Literacy for Slow Learners.” Participating teachers examined the characteristics of slow learners and teaching methods for improving literacy, enhancing practical instructional skills they can apply in the field. After the training, the teachers shared various cases they had experienced in the field and difficulties encountered in the teaching process, exchanging their experiences and know-how to explore effective ways to guide children.

One child welfare teacher who attended the training said, “I had difficulty teaching children who had not yet learned Hangeul, but I was able to get useful tips on methods for teaching Hangeul,” adding, “I will apply what I learned in the field and work to improve the children’s basic academic abilities.” A Namdong District official said, “We are grateful for the hard work of the child welfare teachers who strive to guide vulnerable children at local children’s centers,” adding, “Thanks to the teachers who always provide meticulous instruction despite difficult conditions in the field, the children using local children’s centers are growing up healthy.”

The official added, “We will continue to promote various training programs to practically strengthen the capabilities of child welfare teachers, and will keep working to resolve difficulties in the field.”
