The Incheon Metropolitan Government (Mayor Park Chan-dae) announced that it is publicly recruiting on-site operational volunteers to help ensure the success of the World Korean Business Convention 2026, hosted by the World Korean Business Committee and the Overseas Koreans Agency, among others, and co-organized by the City of Incheon.
The convention will run for three days, from Sept. 28 to 30, across the Songdo Convensia area. It will be held in conjunction with the World Korean Week, which continues from Sept. 27 to Oct. 1. The event brings Korean business leaders from around the world together in one place to expand business opportunities and explore ways to cooperate with domestic companies.
The program features a wide range of events, including the integrated opening ceremony of World Korean Week, the World Korean Business General Assembly (opening ceremony), the World Korean Business Forum, the Young Business Leaders Forum, a corporate exhibition and one-on-one business consultations, a startup competition, and industrial tours and investment briefings. Drawing on the international-event operating experience it has accumulated over the years, Incheon aims to shape the convention into a business arena where Korean business leaders from across the globe and domestic entrepreneurs can grow together.
The volunteer activity period runs for a total of four days, from Sept. 27 to 30. Recruitment runs from the date of the notice until 6 p.m. on Sept. 4; applicants may download the application form from the Incheon Volunteer Center website (https://www.icvt.or.kr) and submit it by email. Anyone aged 18 or older as of the notice date is eligible to apply, and those with experience at international events, as well as residents of the region, will receive preference in the selection.
Volunteers will be assigned to three main areas: information desks at accommodations, airports (Incheon and Gimpo), and Gwangmyeong Station; support for tourism and industrial tours; and event-venue operations support. Selected volunteers will help domestic and international participants move around each site and will help coordinate the overall running of the event.
Participants will receive official volunteer-hour credit and will be provided with certain activity items, including a dedicated on-site uniform. Because volunteers can engage directly with business leaders from around the world and build global on-the-ground skills, the program is expected to offer a meaningful opportunity for citizens seeking international experience.
Kim Young-shin, director general of the Incheon International Cooperation Bureau, said, ‘The success of the World Korean Business Convention rests in the hands of the volunteers who will serve as a solid backbone on the front lines of the event,’ adding, ‘We hope for the strong interest and participation of citizens who want to share the passion of the global business scene and who are enthusiastic about helping run an international event.’
