As the summer vacation season arrives, Incheon City has launched joint price inspections at Eurwangni and Wangsan beaches to root out unfair trade practices such as price gouging and seating fees. The measure aims to reduce unfair cost burdens during the peak season so that residents and tourists can enjoy their holidays with peace of mind.

Incheon City (Mayor Park Chan-dae) announced that on August 7 it carried out a joint price guidance and inspection campaign to eradicate unfair trade practices at resort areas, held at Eurwangni Beach and Wangsan Beach in Yongyu-dong, Yeongjong-gu.
The inspection was conducted through cooperation among Incheon City, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and Yeongjong-gu. Focusing on major businesses such as restaurants and equipment rental shops near the beaches frequented by vacationers, officials intensively examined compliance with the price-labeling system and cases of unfair trade practices such as the imposition of seating fees.
The price-labeling system is a safeguard that allows consumers to clearly confirm prices before payment, thereby preventing improper charges. Customary practices such as charging seating fees have been a recurring source of complaints from vacationers, and they are directly linked to public trust in resort-area prices during the peak season.
Through meetings with merchants at Eurwangni and Wangsan beaches, Incheon City called for price stability and the maintenance of sound commercial order. It also carried out a promotional campaign to help prevent telecommunications-based financial fraud and consumer harm.
Kim Sang-gil, head of the city’s Economy and Industry Headquarters, said, ‘We will continue our ongoing guidance and inspections so that a fair pricing culture can take root at summer resort areas.’ He added, ‘We ask all merchants to actively join in creating a sound commercial culture through reasonable prices and friendly service.’
