The Incheon Metropolitan Government is recruiting its ‘2026 Jemulpo University Storytellers,’ who will capture the transformation and appeal of Jemulpo through the eyes of college students. The initiative seeks to cast a fresh light on local resources through the inventive perspective of young people, and any interested university student may apply.

The Incheon Metropolitan Government (Mayor Park Chan-dae) announced that it has launched recruitment for the ‘2026 Jemulpo University Storytellers.’ Applications are open from July 27 to Aug. 7, with around 10 students to be selected.

Eligibility extends to any university student who runs a personal social media account and takes an interest in Jemulpo. Detailed information, including how to apply, is available on the Incheon city website and the social media channels of the 1883 Gaehang Salon. The final selection results will be announced on Aug. 12 through the Incheon city website.

The chosen storytellers will be active for five months, from August through December of this year. They will produce content on a range of local resources across Jemulpo, including landmarks, commercial districts, festivals and experiential spaces.

This year’s program places its weight on discovering and spreading theme-based content that links commercial districts, experiential spaces and local events. Moving away from the previous approach of introducing individual sites or events in a fragmentary way, as in ‘Jemulpo in Summer,’ the plan is to weave scattered local resources into a single narrative flow and convey the distinctive character of Jemulpo more effectively. This carries significance beyond mere promotion, serving as a channel through which young people experience the region firsthand and pass its stories on to their peers.

Lee Sun-ho, director-general of the city’s Global City Bureau, said, ‘We hope the fresh perspective of young people will become an opportunity to uncover new charms of Jemulpo and add vitality to the region,’ adding, ‘We look forward to enthusiastic participation from interested university students.’
