The Incheon Yeongjong-gu District Volunteer Center announced that the PTC&HVAC Underhood team of GM Technical Center Korea (GMTCK) took part in the ‘One-Day Volunteer Experience Day’ program on the 14th, practicing environmental protection and community sharing together.

The program was designed to inform corporate employees of the meaning of volunteer work and to provide them with an opportunity to take part in social contribution activities alongside the local community. Participants received prior education on the meaning of volunteering and the importance of contributing to the community, then took part in a volunteer activity making eco-friendly soap embodying the values of environmental protection and resource circulation.

Notably, the PTC&HVAC Underhood team of GM Technical Center Korea, which has workplaces in Bupyeong and Cheongna, traveled some distance to visit the Yeongjong-gu District Volunteer Center to carry out the activity. This is interpreted as showing that the company’s ESG management has expanded beyond its own workplaces into social contribution reaching across regions.

The eco-friendly soap made by the participants will be delivered to local neighbors. It is expected to serve as an activity that continues the practice of resource circulation and eco-friendliness in daily life while also sharing warmth with underprivileged neighbors.

Lee Sang-guk, general manager of the PTC&HVAC Underhood team at GM Technical Center Korea, said, “I believe responding to the climate crisis is a task that must be tackled not only by companies but by all of us together.” He added, “This activity was a meaningful time to reflect on the value of the environment by directly making eco-friendly products, and to share the results with neighbors in the local community.” He also said, “Going forward, we will continue to take part in social contribution activities that practice sustainable sharing and grow together with the local community, based on the values of ESG management.”

Jeong Mi-yeong, assistant manager at the Yeongjong-gu District Volunteer Center, said, “We are deeply grateful that the company came all the way to Yeongjong-gu, beyond the region where it is based, to take part in volunteer activities for the local community.” She added, “This activity is a meaningful example of a company’s ESG practices leading to community sharing, and we will continue to operate a variety of volunteer programs that allow companies and the local community to grow together, spreading a culture of sustainable sharing.”
