This additional recruitment is a preemptive measure to prepare for an expected increase in illegal roaming advertisements following the launch of Jemulpo-gu and the expansion of its jurisdiction. As its administrative area has grown, the district has decided to expand resident participation to prevent any gaps in the management of illegal advertisements.

Under the Resident Collection Reward Program, residents who collect illegal banners, posters, flyers and other roaming advertisements themselves are paid a set reward according to the type of advertisement. The program broadens residents’ participation in district administration while also helping generate income for low-income residents and contributing to a safer, more pleasant street environment.

Participation is limited to Jemulpo-gu residents between the ages of 20 and 65. Residents who wish to apply can check the relevant details on the Jemulpo-gu District Office website by July 27, then visit the Advertisement Management Team of the district’s Urban Landscape Division (☎770-6522) with the required documents to register.

Those selected as participants are not deployed to the field immediately; they must first complete training on work methods, the scope of advertisements to be removed, conditions for receiving rewards, and safety rules. They then carry out the actual collection of illegal advertisements, with rewards paid according to the type and volume of advertisements collected.

Mayor Kim Chan-jin of Jemulpo-gu said, “We will do our utmost, through various policies to clear away illegal advertisements, to ensure that residents can experience a safe and pleasant urban environment.”
