The Yulmok-dong Community Service Center (Chief Park Nam-gong) of Jemulpo-gu District (Mayor Kim Chan-jin) in Incheon carried out on-site, preemptive safety inspections and patrol activities on July 13 targeting vulnerable areas within its jurisdiction ahead of the full onset of the monsoon season.

The inspection was organized to identify and eliminate flood risk factors before the monsoon season fully sets in. In addition to the center’s own inspection team, composed of public officials and environmental service workers, local tong leaders and residents familiar with the area voluntarily joined in, adding significance as an on-site inspection carried out jointly by the public and private sectors.

The joint inspection team, led overall by Yulmok-dong Chief Park Nam-gong, focused closely on areas chronically vulnerable to flooding as well as drainage facilities such as drains and rainwater catch basins. Minor issues, such as debris obstructing drainage flow, were addressed on the spot.

Alongside the safety inspection, the team also carried out work to locate and remove old, worn signage bearing information about the former district office that had been installed before the launch of Jemulpo-gu, which was newly established following Incheon’s administrative reorganization on July 1. The aim is to reduce confusion among residents caused by the launch of the new administrative system while also improving the appearance of the streets.

Yulmok-dong does not intend to treat this inspection as a one-time event, and plans to continue conducting inspections as needed through August 31, alongside follow-up management.

Yulmok-dong Chief Park Nam-gong said, “I would like to express my deep gratitude to the tong leaders and residents who actively participated in today’s inspection.” He added, “We will continue thorough and repeated patrol activities until the monsoon season fully ends in late August, and through careful environmental maintenance in step with the administrative reorganization, we will do our utmost to ensure residents can enjoy a safe and convenient summer.”
