Ahead of the 2026 Chuseok holiday, the city of Incheon (Mayor Park Chan-dae) will personally visit major grassroots sites across the region over two days, on the 21st and 23rd. From comforting vulnerable groups to checking holiday prices and holiday safety, the plan is to take a broad look at the sites that touch citizens’ daily lives and to engage in dialogue.

These site visits were arranged with the aim of directly confirming the problems that citizens actually feel ahead of the holiday. The city of Incheon set out four pillars for this tour: comforting vulnerable groups and inspecting welfare sites; checking grocery-basket prices and revitalizing traditional markets; promoting consumption in line with the resumption of Incheon e-eum cashback; and inspecting public safety, firefighting and maritime safety during the holiday period.
The schedule for the first day, the 21st, will focus on welfare and community safety. Mayor Park will visit the Galsan Community Welfare Center to take part in person in delivering lunchboxes to homebound seniors, and will encourage senior job-program participants and staff at social welfare facilities. He plans to convey the message that fine-grained welfare support is needed so that neighbors who are easily left out during the holiday can spend a warm Chuseok. He will then check trends in the prices of major farm products at the Samsan Agricultural Products Wholesale Market, take part in a fire-prevention campaign for the holiday period, and visit the Bupyeong Yeokjeon Police Substation to encourage the frontline officers responsible for public safety.
On the second day, the 23rd, he will visit traditional markets and maritime, firefighting and welfare sites one after another. He will first check holiday price trends and listen to merchants’ difficulties at the Soraepogu Traditional Fish Market in Namdong-gu. He will then visit the Incheon Vessel Traffic Service Center to inspect maritime safety measures for the Chuseok holiday, and will ask officials to make every effort in maritime traffic safety management during the holiday period, when passenger and freight movement increases.
Afterward, he will visit Yonghyeon Market in Michuhol-gu to encourage merchants and to do his own holiday shopping. There he plans to inform citizens about the Incheon e-eum cashback that resumed on the 18th, and to help ease the burden on the grocery basket and inject vitality into the local commercial district. He will also visit the Juan 119 Safety Center, which drew attention last month for extinguishing a fire in an electric-vehicle transport truck on the expressway during a business trip, to inspect local firefighting and safety measures and encourage the firefighters. At the Incheon Bus Terminal, he will review Chuseok transportation measures and then offer holiday greetings to travelers returning to their hometowns.
As the final item on the schedule, he will visit the ’24-Hour Loneliness Counseling Call’, which opened last August, to encourage the counselors. He plans to listen to views on the ground and to call for strengthening operations so that the counseling call can establish itself as a warm point of connection that citizens who feel lonely during the holiday can turn to first.
The city of Incheon said it will operate comprehensive sector-by-sector measures covering prices, transportation, medical care and welfare during the Chuseok holiday, and will minimize inconvenience to citizens through real-time situation monitoring. In that the administration will not remain inside city hall for the holiday but will head out directly to markets, welfare facilities and safety sites, this tour is read as an occasion to show citizens the direction of a life-oriented administration.
Mayor Park Chan-dae said, ‘The place most closely connected to citizens’ lives is the field,’ adding, ‘Above all, I will make the recovery of the livelihood economy the top priority and create change that citizens can feel.’ He went on to stress, ‘I thank everyone working for citizens’ safety even during the holiday,’ and, ‘The city of Incheon, too, will watch over safety without any gaps during the Chuseok holiday.’
