The Rural Development Administration (Administrator Lee Seung-don) has established a Quality Assurance Team to provide ongoing quality management for its agriculture-specialized artificial intelligence (AI) service, ‘AI Isak-i’, and has begun full-scale operations. The move is aimed at delivering more accurate and practical farming information to agricultural sites.

The Rural Development Administration announced that it has formed the ‘AI Isak-i’ Quality Assurance Team within the Agricultural Intelligence Data Team of the Planning and Coordination Office and has begun operating it on a standing basis. The Quality Assurance Team is composed of dedicated staff who monitor the answers provided by ‘AI Isak-i’ and expert advisers who handle technical consultations.
The team operates by analyzing user inquiries and answers that have received negative evaluations, verifying and supplementing responses, expanding reference materials and up-to-date farming technology data, and then feeding the results back into ‘AI Isak-i’. Through this process, it has built a standing quality-management system that runs from the initial question all the way through to improvement.
In particular, rather than simply correcting errors in individual answers, the team plans to identify questions that recur in the field and areas where knowledge is lacking, and to continuously reinforce the relevant materials. The aim is to closely analyze questions from farming sites and user evaluations and reflect them in improvements to answers and knowledge resources, thereby raising both the accuracy of the service and its usefulness in the field.

As a generative AI-based service, the quality of the answers provided by ‘AI Isak-i’ depends heavily on the quality and timeliness of the knowledge materials registered in its vector store. Until now, there had been no operational system to discover, review, register, and keep such materials up to date, and the need to establish systematic standards for managing these resources had been pointed out as a challenge. The creation of the Quality Assurance Team is an effort to fill this gap, and procedures have been put in place for affiliated institutions to provide materials on a quarterly basis and to routinely review new and revised materials.
The Rural Development Administration plans to hold a council meeting in September on work cooperation with technical committee members from the technical support divisions of the four major science institutes, in order to keep the materials registered in the vector store current.

Shin Jae-hoon, head of the Agricultural Intelligence Data Team, said, ‘The quality of the answers provided by generative AI-based Isak-i depends heavily on the quality and timeliness of the knowledge materials registered in the vector store,’ adding, ‘We will devote ourselves to steady verification and systematic quality management so that AI Isak-i can establish itself as a trusted farming companion that agricultural workers can rely on and put to use.’
In farming, there is strong demand for real-time information on matters such as responding to pests and diseases, cultivation techniques, and season-by-season management. Since incorrect information can lead directly to crop damage, this quality-assurance system carries significance in that it lays a foundation of trust allowing farmers to make use of AI answers with peace of mind.
