The Yeonsu 3-dong Community Security Council (Co-chairs Yoon Sung-yeon and Kim Jae-sik) in Incheon’s Yeonsu-gu District received 30 bags of “Rice of Love” from the Incheon Environment Corporation’s New Port Business Office (Director Lim Kang-hyeok) on the 30th of last month. The rice, prepared in 10-kilogram bags, will be distributed to low-income vulnerable residents in the area.

The donation was arranged through the voluntary contributions of New Port Business Office employees, and the rice will be passed through the council to neighbors in difficult circumstances within Yeonsu 3-dong.
New Port Business Office Director Lim Kang-hyeok said, “I hope the rice, prepared through the heartfelt contributions of our employees, will be a small source of strength for the low-income households of Yeonsu 3-dong,” adding, “We will continue to carry out sharing activities alongside the local community and fulfill our social responsibility as a public enterprise.”
Co-chair Yoon Sung-yeon said, “I hope this donation will be of great help to residents who are experiencing economic hardship,” and added, “We will do our best to further spread a culture of sharing in which the public and private sectors work together.”
Meanwhile, the Incheon Environment Corporation’s New Port Business Office operates facilities that take in 181 tons of household waste discharged in Yeonsu-gu each day to produce high-quality solid fuel, of which it processes 90 tons per day. The high-temperature thermal energy generated during the process is supplied to district heating, replacing fossil fuels and serving a resource-recycling role. Office employees have steadily continued their sharing efforts for the local community, including pooling funds last year to donate 200 kilograms of rice to a welfare center for people with disabilities.
