The Incheon Dong-gu Family Center (Director Park Mi-hee) will change its name to the ‘Jemulpo-gu Family Center’ in line with the reorganization of Incheon Metropolitan City’s administrative system, which takes effect on July 1. As the region’s administrative districts are realigned, the sign of a leading institution that has provided family-related services to residents will also be renewed.

This name change is a follow-up measure prompted by the launch of Jemulpo-gu, created through the merger of Incheon’s Dong-gu and the inland areas of Jung-gu. With the establishment of the new autonomous district, the jurisdiction and service scope handled by the center will also expand. The center said it plans to provide correspondingly detailed, community-oriented family services tailored to the characteristics of the local area.
Only the institution’s name will change, while the actual programs in operation will remain the same. The center’s major existing programs — including family counseling, family education, support for multicultural families, the ‘Whole Family Care’ program, cooperative childcare-sharing centers and child care services — will continue unchanged after the name change. From the residents’ perspective, this means they can receive support in the same manner as before, without any gap in service. The center said it will continue to provide tailored, integrated family services for local residents and diverse families without disruption.
Director Park Mi-hee said, “Although the name will change due to the administrative reorganization, the role and functions of the family center remain unchanged,” adding, “As we make a fresh start as the Jemulpo-gu Family Center, we will further strengthen customized, life-cycle-based family support services suited to the characteristics of the region.”
Meanwhile, in line with the name change, the website address will also be updated. The new website can be accessed through the Jemulpo-gu Family Center homepage (https://jemulpogu.familynet.or.kr/center/index.do), where information on related programs and activities can be found.
