The Cheonghak-dong Community Social Security Council (Co-Chairs Kim Dae-jin and Lee Jin-hee) of Yeonsu-gu District delivered a “Good Store” plaque on the 3rd to the Cheonghak Senior Welfare Center (Director Lim Heon-gwang), located in Cheonghak-dong. The event served as an occasion for the community to jointly recognize the center’s decision to take part in regular giving.

A “Good Store” refers to a place that donates 30,000 won or more each month through the Community Chest of Korea, taking part in spreading a culture of sharing. Because a wide range of businesses can participate, including self-employed owners as well as private academies and hospitals, it forms a foundation for ongoing donations throughout the community.

The Cheonghak Senior Welfare Center joined the “Good Store” initiative, sharing the aim of raising the community’s level of health and welfare and broadening a culture of sharing for the socially vulnerable. With this participation, the number of “Good Stores” in Cheonghak-dong has now grown to a total of 23.

Lim Heon-gwang, director of the Cheonghak Senior Welfare Center, said, “We applied out of a desire to help vulnerable neighbors in the community. Though it is a small gesture, we hope that through steady sharing it will be of help to neighbors in need within the community.”

A council official said, “Taking part in regular giving is not an easy decision, and we are grateful to them for joining in sharing for the community,” adding, “We will continue to work harder to advance community welfare and spread a culture of sharing.”

In that the foundation for sharing that circulates on its own within the community widens with each additional participant, the Cheonghak Senior Welfare Center’s involvement is expected to serve as an opportunity to further strengthen Cheonghak-dong’s local welfare network.
