Juan 2-dong Bank Book Managers’ Council Delivers Instant Tteokguk Worth 4 Million Won to Vulnerable Residents

Bank book managers visit households in person to support nutrition... "We will actively identify welfare blind spots"

The Juan 2-dong Community Service Center (Head Choi Mi-hee) in Michuhol-gu District announced on the 13th that it had received instant tteokguk (rice cake soup) worth 4 million won from the Juan 2-dong Bank Book Managers’ Council (President Jeong Dong-hyeon) to help vulnerable residents get through the summer in good health.

The donation was arranged to help supplement the nutrition of elderly people living alone and low-income vulnerable residents, who are prone to losing strength in the sweltering heat.

Bank book managers in Juan 2-dong personally visited vulnerable households in the area to deliver the instant tteokguk and check on residents’ well-being. Notably, they went beyond simply delivering goods, directly confirming the safety of each household.

President Jeong Dong-hyeon said, “I hope our neighbors in need can eat tteokguk and get through the summer in good health,” adding, “We will continue to carefully look after neighbors who need help and keep up our sharing activities.”

A dong official said, “We are grateful to the bank book managers who personally practiced sharing for vulnerable residents even amid the intense heat,” and added, “We will do our utmost to actively uncover welfare blind spots and ensure no neighbor is left out.”

This activity, in which bank book managers — the administrative organization’s frontline workers closest to residents — personally visited households to deliver goods and check on their well-being, shows that uncovering welfare blind spots cannot be achieved through administrative statistics alone.
