Yeonsu-gu District Officials Visit Duru Dolbom (Spring) Health Care Sites, Hear Residents’ Voices

Mayor Lee Jae-ho inspects Health-deo-bom and home-visit rehabilitation services, confirms two-month rehabilitation support case

Posted Article No. 52237

Incheon’s Yeonsu-gu District (Mayor Lee Jae-ho) visited the home of an integrated care recipient in person on the 13th to inspect the state of health care service delivery. That day, the district examined the operation of ‘Health-deo-bom’ and home-visit rehabilitation services, key pillars of the Duru Dolbom (Spring) health care specialized program, and listened to feedback from a resident who has been using the services.

Duru Dolbom (Spring) is the brand name for a health care specialized program run by the Yeonsu-gu District Public Health Center, taking its name from the crane (durumi), a bird symbolizing Yeonsu-gu, and carrying the meaning of ‘looking after thoroughly’ (duruduru). The name also reflects the intent to look more closely into residents’ health conditions and to closely connect integrated care recipients with the medical services they need.

Of these, Health-deo-bom is a program in which a multidisciplinary team — comprising doctors, nurses, health managers and occupational therapists — visits target households directly to assess health and functional status and medical needs. Based on the diagnostic results, the team coordinates necessary services such as home-visit medical care, home-visit rehabilitation, and referrals to medical institutions.

The home-visit rehabilitation service is a program in which occupational therapists visit the homes of integrated care recipients who have difficulty moving or reduced physical function, providing customized rehabilitation exercises, gait training and fall-prevention education. Recipients who are determined through the Health-deo-bom assessment to need rehabilitation are connected to this service.

The household the district mayor visited that day was also a case that went through the Health-deo-bom assessment before being connected to the home-visit rehabilitation service. The recipient had received customized rehabilitation exercises and gait training from an occupational therapist for about two months, and was confirmed to show high service participation and satisfaction.

Mayor Lee Jae-ho, accompanied by on-site personnel including the head of the public health center and an occupational therapist, visited the recipient’s home to see firsthand how the rehabilitation service is actually delivered, and listened to changes in health and functional status as well as the recipient’s impressions of using the service. He also checked on inconveniences experienced in daily life and additional support needed, while encouraging the on-site staff.

Yeonsu-gu District Mayor Lee Jae-ho said, “Health-deo-bom and home-visit rehabilitation are programs in which the public health center directly visits residents’ living environments to check their health status and connect them with the services they need.” He added, “We will push forward more thoroughly with integrated care health services that residents can genuinely feel, so that senior citizens can live healthily in the places where they have long resided.”

The district plans to check again on changes in the recipient’s health and functional status before the home-visit rehabilitation service ends, in order to determine future management directions such as ending the service, extending it, or adjusting the number of sessions provided. In addition, based on the results of Health-deo-bom assessments, the district plans to continuously identify and manage recipients who need additional connections such as home-visit medical care, referrals to medical institutions, and health management at the public health center. Yeonsu-gu District plans to continue operating the Duru Dolbom (Spring) health care specialized program in a substantive way, carefully looking after integrated care recipients with complex health issues, and strengthening the customized health care linkage system, including home-visit medical care and home-visit rehabilitation.
