The Juan 2-dong Residents’ Autonomy Committee (Chairman Park Ho-yang) in Michuhol-gu District visited seven senior centers in the neighborhood on July 14, the day of Chobok, the first of Korea’s three hottest days of summer, to deliver raw chicken, herbal medicine and other supplies for preparing summer health food.

The donation was organized to help elderly residents, worn down by the hot and humid weather, get through the summer in good health.
Committee members visited the seven senior centers, including Jangsu Senior Center, in turn to hand over the donated supplies, taking time to check on the residents’ health and well-being.
The donation is part of summer care activities for the elderly led by local grassroots organizations, and is seen as an example of the community coming together to look after the health of vulnerable residents during the intense heat.
“I hope our elderly residents can eat well with summer health food and get through the heat in good health,” said Chairman Park Ho-yang. “We will continue to work to make the Juan 2-dong Residents’ Autonomy Committee one that practices sharing for local senior citizens through a variety of volunteer activities.”
