The Agricultural Technology Center of Incheon Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Chan-dae) announced that it is recruiting trainees among Incheon residents for its ‘2026 Second-Half Urban Farming Basic Course.’

The course is a foundational program for beginners taking their first steps into vegetable gardening or urban farming. It combines lessons in cultivation theory with hands-on practice in handling crops, helping even residents with little to no experience begin farming as part of everyday life.

Classes run from Sept. 16 to Nov. 4, held every Wednesday at the Agricultural Technology Center. Applications are divided into two rounds: priority enrollment takes place on Aug. 18, while general enrollment runs online on a first-come, first-served basis from Aug. 19 to 24.

Urban farming is an activity in which people grow their own food on balconies, rooftops and small garden plots, fostering emotional stability and neighborly exchange. It has taken root as a way for residents worn down by city life to look after both their leisure and their health. This course is expected to serve as a bridge that turns such interest into real practice.

Lee Hee-jung, director of the city’s Agricultural Technology Center, said, ‘Through education in practical urban farming skills for everyday life, we will work to advance the social functions of agriculture and to invigorate urban farming.’

For more details, residents can check the notice on the education and events bulletin board of the Agricultural Technology Center website (www.incheon.go.kr/agro), or contact the Urban Farming Team (☎032-440-6942).
