Incheon’s Jemulpo-gu District (Mayor Kim Chan-jin) and the Incheon Medical Volunteer Association (President Kim Young-ju) held their “28th Outreach Medical Volunteer Service” on Aug. 22, visiting medically underserved residents in the district to provide treatment along with daily necessities.

The service took a tailored, door-to-door approach, selecting households with limited access to medical institutions from among the subjects of the public health center’s home health management program. The aim was to protect the health rights of residents who find it difficult to receive regular medical care.

Support staff from the Jemulpo-gu Public Health Center and medical personnel from the Incheon Medical Volunteer Association took part in the day’s activities, checking on the health status of recipients and providing comprehensive medical services including treatment, basic tests, prescriptions and medication.

Alongside the medical services, donated goods including 60 kilograms of rice and six boxes of instant noodles were distributed to help with recipients’ daily lives, contributing to the stability of the households’ livelihoods.

Jemulpo-gu Mayor Kim Chan-jin said, “I sincerely thank the Incheon Medical Volunteer Association for its unwavering commitment to sharing warmth with medically underserved residents every year.” He added, “We will continue to strengthen close, community-based health and medical support to ensure no one in the district falls into a welfare or medical blind spot.”

This cooperative project, now in its 28th installment, stands as an example of the public and private sectors working together to fill gaps in local medical care, and Jemulpo-gu plans to continue its support for safeguarding the health rights of underserved residents.
