Jemulpo-gu District (Mayor Kim Chan-jin) in Incheon will designate and operate hospitals, clinics and pharmacies that stay open during the four-day Chuseok holiday from Sept. 24 to 27. The measure is intended to minimize gaps in medical care so that residents can still receive treatment and obtain medication in the event of sudden illness or accidents over the holiday.

During the holiday, the district’s four emergency medical institutions — Incheon Medical Center, Incheon Paik Hospital, Incheon Christian Hospital and Inha University Hospital — will operate their emergency rooms 24 hours a day. In addition, eight hospitals and clinics and 23 pharmacies have voluntarily signed up as medical institutions and pharmacies open during the holiday to handle general consultations and dispensing.
The Jemulpo-gu Public Health Center will also provide emergency care from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 24, the first day of the holiday. Under the arrangement, emergency rooms, private hospitals and clinics, and the public health center divide roles to maintain a medical care system throughout the holiday.
Information on hospitals, clinics and pharmacies open during the holiday is available by calling the Health and Welfare Call Center (129), the Emergency Situation Management Center (119) or the Michuhol Call Center (120). It can also be checked on the Emergency Medical Portal (www.e-gen.or.kr), the emergency medical information app “E-Gen” and the Jemulpo-gu Public Health Center website. For further details, inquiries can be made to the Jemulpo-gu Public Health Center (032-770-7520 to 7524).
However, as the operating hours of participating institutions may change depending on circumstances and consultation hours differ from one institution to another, the district urged residents to confirm by phone before visiting. Checking in advance is essential to avoid wasted trips and to receive necessary care in a timely manner.
“The operating hours of hospitals, clinics and pharmacies open during the Chuseok holiday may change, and consultation hours differ by medical institution, so residents must confirm by phone before visiting,” Jemulpo-gu Mayor Kim Chan-jin said. “We will do our best in operating the holiday emergency care system so that residents can spend a safe and healthy Chuseok holiday.”
Holiday periods are a time when most medical institutions close, making it easy for patients to crowd into emergency rooms. If patients with mild conditions use neighborhood hospitals, clinics and pharmacies that are open, emergency rooms can focus on responding to critically ill patients. The designated operation is therefore expected not only to improve convenience for residents but also to ease the burden on the regional emergency medical system.
