Ganghwa-gun convened its ‘2026 Third-Quarter Industrial Safety and Health Committee’ on the 14th to review the safety and health achievements of the third quarter and to deliberate on and approve its priority plan for the fourth quarter. The move reflects the county’s aim to solidify its disaster-prevention system by placing the lives and health of workers at public workplaces at the very top of its priorities.

Ganghwa-gun (county mayor Park Yong-cheol) announced that it held the ‘2026 Third-Quarter Industrial Safety and Health Committee’ on the 14th, reviewing the achievements in the field of industrial safety and health during the third quarter while deliberating on and approving its priority plan for the fourth quarter.
The Industrial Safety and Health Committee is a statutory body convened quarterly under the 「Occupational Safety and Health Act」. With employer representatives and worker representatives participating together, it deliberates on and decides important matters concerning workplace safety and health, and serves as an official channel for directly hearing the views of on-site workers and reflecting them in policy. This is why the committee functions as a key conduit for building a substantive disaster-prevention system.
At the meeting, the third-quarter initiatives reported included 「implementation of improvements based on the results of the 2026 regular risk assessment」, 「implementation of the 2026 work environment measurement」, and 「implementation of improvements based on the survey of hazardous factors in musculoskeletal-strain work」. These were evaluated as measures that underpin on-site safety, in that they identified risk factors in advance and translated survey results into actual improvements.
The committee also discussed key initiatives for the fourth quarter. Through the 「2026 second-half work environment measurement」 and the 「2026 second-half health counseling for field workers」, the county plans to assess the level of hazards at each workplace and strengthen the health management of workers.
In addition, the county will carry out the 「2026 second-half round inspections of field workplaces」, the 「2026 second-half inspection of compliance with obligations to secure safety and health for the prevention of serious accidents」, and the 「2026 second-half evaluation of the performance of safety management officers and others」. Through these, it plans to check whether legal obligations under the Serious Accidents Punishment Act and the Occupational Safety and Health Act are being fulfilled, and to reduce the likelihood of serious accidents in advance.

Ganghwa county mayor Park Yong-cheol said, ‘Over the past third quarter, we have pursued effective safety and health management activities from various angles to create a safe workplace for workers,’ adding, ‘Going forward, we will continue to place workers’ lives and health as our top priority and work together to build a safe and happy Ganghwa-gun.’
Ganghwa-gun said it plans to continue operating the committee regularly and to make on-site inspections a routine practice, thereby eradicating serious accidents and creating public workplaces where workers can work with peace of mind. Such efforts are expected to go beyond administrative performance management and become a foundation on which residents working at local public workplaces can feel that their workplaces are protected from hazards.
