The Incheon Metropolitan Women’s Welfare Center announced that it will begin recruiting students for its 4th Social Education Course series of 2026 on September 28. The courses will run for about 12 weeks, from October 12 to December 26.
The program consists of 89 courses across four categories, including professional talent development, practical entrepreneurship skills, culture, health and humanities, and short-term special lectures, with a total of 1,618 students to be admitted. According to the center, the courses combine content useful for everyday life with professional certification programs to reflect the diverse needs of citizens.
This session, in particular, features new courses that draw on students’ educational demands and the center’s distinctive strengths. Notable examples include ▲Wallpapering Practice & Architectural Painting Technician ▲GTQ Illustrator & Miricanvas ▲GTQ Illustrator & AI Design ▲Confectionery Technician ▲I Am a Beginner Cook (men only) ▲AI-Based Personal Consulting (beauty & hair). These courses link certification, entrepreneurship and hands-on use of artificial intelligence, so that students can build skills they can put to use immediately in the job market or in starting a business.
Any Incheon resident aged 18 or older may apply. Applications are divided into ‘priority admission’ and ‘general admission’ according to eligibility.
Priority admission is available to families with multiple children, recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security benefits, statutory single-parent families, and persons of national merit. These applicants are exempt from tuition for one course. Priority admission applications will be accepted online on a first-come, first-served basis from 9 a.m. on September 28 to 6 p.m. on September 29.
General admission opens at different times depending on the type of course. Applications for the professional talent development and practical entrepreneurship skills courses open online at 9 a.m. on October 1, while the culture, health and humanities courses and short-term special lectures open at 9 a.m. on October 2, both on a first-come, first-served basis.
Giving priority tuition exemptions to educationally vulnerable groups and even offering a men-only cooking course can be read as an effort to lower the barriers to lifelong learning regardless of gender or income. The expansion of courses linking certification with hands-on AI skills is expected to provide practical support for the re-employment and entrepreneurship of the middle-aged and older.
