The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (Minister Kim Yun-deok) is recruiting 130 young people for its 2026 Second-Half Youth Internship, who will work at policy sites for about four months, from August 10 to December 11. The program is notable for setting aside so-called credentials such as major, certifications and language test scores, instead evaluating candidates on their interest in policy and their willingness to participate. Nine positions have been allocated to the Incheon area.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport opened its second-half youth internship notice on June 29 and began accepting applications. In the first half of the year, it had selected 145 interns for a five-month program; this time, timed to the end of the first-half internship, the program will run for about four months, from August 10 to December 11.
A total of 130 interns will be selected across 10 fields, including administration, public relations, foreign languages, facilities, air traffic control, information systems, spatial information, records management, curatorial work and food hygiene. They will be assigned in a balanced way across the ministry’s headquarters and affiliated agencies. By region, Sejong has the most at 52, followed by Busan with 11; Jeju, Incheon and Gyeonggi with 9 each; Daegu with 8; Jeonbuk with 7; Daejeon and Gyeongnam with 6 each; Gangwon with 3; and Seoul, Chungnam, Gwangju, Jeonnam and Gyeongbuk with 2 each.
Any young person aged 19 to 34 with an interest in land, infrastructure and transport affairs is eligible to apply. The key feature of this recruitment is that it sets no quantitative preferential requirements. In keeping with the spirit of open recruitment, the ministry excludes credentials such as major, certifications and language test scores, and selects candidates through means such as an evaluation of a ‘policy proposal’ in which applicants describe, in their own words, their interest in policy and their willingness to participate. In effect, it lowers the barrier for young people who had hesitated to apply because of educational or qualification requirements.
Applications are accepted from June 29 to July 9 through the Young Talent Database (www.2030db.go.kr). Following a document screening and an interview, final successful applicants will be announced on August 3.
Selected interns will be assigned to departments based on their areas of interest and their major. They will take part in the actual process of policy implementation, including support for policymaking in land, housing, construction and transport, as well as construction site inspections and administrative and training support for air traffic control. At headquarters, they will handle administrative support, policy promotion and digital communication, research of overseas materials, and interpretation and translation. At regional land management offices, they will work on construction site inspections and on contracts, compensation and records management, while at regional aviation offices and the Air Traffic Control Headquarters they will take on control administration and the operation of simulation training equipment.
To help the interns adapt quickly to the organization and build their job skills, the ministry will run orientation and mentoring, regular discussion meetings, visits to policy sites, a monthly academy on major policies, and a policy proposal program. Outstanding interns will receive a ministerial award, and opportunities to take part in policy will also be provided, including a Youth Online Panel that gathers young people’s views in real time.
Kim Heon-jeong, head of the Planning and Coordination Office, said, ‘Watching the first-half interns, I felt that the youth internship program is becoming an opportunity for young people to discover their own potential, beyond a mere work experience,’ adding, ‘In the second half as well, we will actively support the operation of a substantive program so that more young people can gain meaningful experience throughout the field of land, infrastructure and transport.’
Details such as the duties and preferential requirements for each recruitment field, the workplaces, and how to submit application forms can be found in the notice posted from June 29 on the ministry’s website (www.molit.go.kr), Nara Ilteo (www.gojobs.go.kr) and the Young Talent Database (www.2030db.go.kr).
