A supporters’ group set to breathe life into the Gaehang (Open-Port) Hope Culture Commercial District in Jemulpo-gu with youthful content has begun its activities. On June 25, the Gaehang Hope Culture Commercial District Project Group of the Jemulpo Cultural Foundation (Chairman Kim Chan-jin) held a launch ceremony for the ‘2026 Gaehang Hope Culture Commercial District Sinnajang Crew’ supporters at the Naerimaru Culture Rest Area.

At the ceremony, a total of 50 people, including supporters and organizers, gathered in one place to mark the official start of the initiative. The event featured a welcoming address followed by an orientation and training on the commercial district and content production, and a networking session in which participants introduced themselves to one another was also arranged, providing an opportunity for exchange to support smooth activities.

The Sinnajang Crew supporters are a promotional team selected to experience firsthand the diverse historical and cultural value of the Gaehang Hope Culture Commercial District and to publicize it through various forms of content. Made up of blog reporters and image and video creators, among others, they will each discover and convey the district’s appeal in their own way.

Beginning with the launch ceremony, over a period of about five months through Nov. 19, they will visit major events and sites within the commercial district in person to regularly present content they have filmed and produced. In particular, through a familiarization tour scheduled for July 2, they plan to gain a deeper understanding of the Gaehang Hope Culture Commercial District and to steadily spread promotional content reflecting the supporters’ own perspective.

The foundation plans to work with the supporters to widely publicize the history and cultural value of Jemulpo-gu and, through content capturing vivid on-site stories, to support the area in establishing itself as an appealing cultural space for citizens and tourists. Alongside this, it plans to carry out promotional activities linked to branded festivals, experiences and events such as the ‘Sinnajang Experience Program,’ the ‘Daebul Hotel Coffee Experience’ and ‘Sinnajang Culture Busking.’

Amid a continuing economic downturn for small business owners, this attempt to apply the content capabilities of the younger generation to commercial-district promotion is expected to inject new vitality into the commercial area around the open port. The foundation plans to provide continuous support so that the supporters’ activities lead to an increase in visitors to the district and the revitalization of the local economy.
