Yeongjong-gu District (Mayor Son Hwa-jeong) in Incheon will open its civil service office every Monday evening for office workers, dual-income couples and other residents who find it hard to visit the district office during the day. The district announced the “night civil service office” on Sept. 28 and urged residents to make full use of it.

The night civil service office will operate for two hours, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., every Monday except public holidays. It will be located at the Civil Affairs and Cadastral Division on the third floor of the Yeongjong-gu District Office, 201 Haneuljungang-ro, Yeongjong-gu, Incheon. Residents can simply visit during operating hours.
Three types of services will be available in the evening: passport applications and pickups; integrated certificates, including copies and abstracts of resident registration, certificates of personal seal impression and family relations certificates; and family relations reports, such as marriage and birth registrations. These cover most of the civil services residents use frequently in daily life.
The district opened the evening counter because a considerable number of residents find it difficult to visit the district office during regular weekday business hours (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.). The aim is to ease the inconvenience caused by overlapping work hours and civil service office hours, and to provide everyday administrative services that residents can access without difficulty.
Passport services are expected to benefit the most. Passport issuance is a typical civil service that requires applicants to visit an administrative office in person. Office workers and dual-income households who have trouble taking time off on weekday afternoons have long struggled to fit such visits into their schedules. The district expects this inconvenience to be greatly reduced now that applications and pickups are possible after work on Mondays.
Everyday services such as copies and abstracts of resident registration, certificates of personal seal impression and family relations reports can also be handled at the same counter. Another advantage is that residents can take care of all the documents they need in a single evening visit.
“The night civil service office is an everyday administrative service designed to reduce inconveniences in residents’ daily lives,” Mayor Son Hwa-jeong said. “We will continue to work to provide tailored civil services that residents can truly feel.”
