The Michuhol-gu Family Center (Director Choi Yeo-jin) held the “Our Family Festival in Full Bloom of Laughter, Family Love Happiness Sports Day” on June 27 at the Michuhol-gu National Sports Center, with 130 people from 34 families in the district taking part. The event brought together multiple generations to enjoy exercise and games while strengthening family bonds.

The event was arranged to restore family ties that can easily fray amid busy daily life and to take root a healthy leisure culture in the community. The program was designed so that families of various forms could mingle, communicate and come together in harmony.
In the pre-event performance that opened the day, the Family Center’s self-help group “Morihwa” played the erhu, a traditional Chinese stringed instrument, enlivening the atmosphere.
After the sports day program concluded, experience booths were run for the whole family to enjoy together. Alongside traditional games such as tuho (arrow throwing), yutnori, jegichagi and gonggi, a range of activities including making bracelets with flags of many nations and family photo sessions were offered.
Director Choi Yeo-jin said, “I thank all the families who joined the event,” adding, “We will continue to organize programs through which families can communicate and interact together, and work to foster a family-friendly community culture.”
The Michuhol-gu Family Center is a specialized family service institution operated by Inha University’s Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation under a commission from Michuhol-gu District. It provides life-cycle-tailored education from pregnancy and childbirth through old age, as well as family counseling and family culture and leisure activities, carrying out programs to enhance the happiness and well-being of local families. This sports day was likewise pursued as an extension of such family support activities.
