Incheon’s Yeongjong-gu District (Mayor Son Hwa-jeong) is lowering the threshold to the ‘Yeongjong History Museum,’ a signature cultural venue in the area, for two weeks to celebrate the launch of the new autonomous district. The district announced that it will hold a ‘Yeongjong History Museum Free Admission Event’ for local residents and tourists from July 1 to July 15. Newly launched under Incheon’s administrative reorganization, Yeongjong-gu District has made expanding residents’ opportunities to enjoy culture the focus of its first commemorative project.

This free admission has been arranged to coincide with the week commemorating the launch of Yeongjong-gu District, which runs from July 1 to 15. The aim is to jointly celebrate the birth of the new autonomous district and to offer residents and tourists an abundant opportunity for cultural experiences. During the event period, anyone visiting the Yeongjong History Museum can freely tour exhibitions showcasing the long history and culture of the Yeongjong area without any admission fee.
The Yeongjong History Museum is located in the area of 63 Gueup-ro and is a space that systematically preserves and exhibits historical relics and materials of the Yeongjong area, spanning from prehistoric times to the modern era. As a place where one can trace the roots and identity of a freshly launched Yeongjong-gu District, the free opening is expected to serve as an occasion for residents to reflect on the history of the area they live in alongside the launch of the new autonomous district.
A district official said, “This event has been arranged to celebrate the new leap forward of Yeongjong-gu District together with everyone,” adding, “We hope many people will visit the Yeongjong History Museum to share Yeongjong’s proud history together and spend a meaningful time.”
The Yeongjong History Museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. However, it is closed every Monday, and when a Monday falls on a public holiday, it closes the following day instead. It is also closed on Jan. 1 and on Lunar New Year’s Day and Chuseok. For details such as the free admission period and how to visit, inquiries can be made to the Yeongjong History Museum (032-746-9901).
